For 55 years Mike Westbrook’s music has been a daily part of my life (hand on heart, I have listened to his music daily - barring times in intensive care!..) and I cherish his singular and particular genius.
This solo album recorded at 86(!) years old is, for me, perfection. It encapsulates, I think, a lifetime’s playing for Mike and a lifetime’s listening for me…
It’s important to me to have made that connection…his music made me really listen and to practice listening with rigour.
